Encompass® API Migration Checklist
The retirement of the Encompass® SDK on December 31, 2026 is a firm ICE deadline, not a recommendation. This checklist is a practical path for lender IT and integration teams to move from the legacy SDK to a modern, API-first architecture built on Encompass Platform Services without losing functionality or missing the sunset. Work through the steps in order; each one depends on the clarity the previous step produces.
1. Audit your current SDK dependencies
Inventory every integration that touches the legacy Encompass® SDK — loan plugins, custom input forms, event handlers, and partner service calls. For each, capture what data it reads and writes, how often it runs, and the business outcome it supports. This audit is the baseline every later decision depends on.
2. Map workflows to Encompass Platform Services APIs
For each SDK dependency, identify the equivalent REST endpoint or webhook event in the Encompass Platform Services library. Where a direct one-to-one mapping does not exist, redesign the workflow around the available API surface rather than the old code path. Prioritize high-volume, compliance-sensitive flows first.
3. Rebuild and re-validate integrations
Implement the new API-first integrations in a non-production Encompass environment. Validate data integrity, error handling, and event delivery against your documented business outcomes. Move partner integrations to hosted or webhook-based patterns where possible to reduce ongoing maintenance.
4. Cut over before the 12/31/2026 deadline
Sequence the production cut-over to leave buffer before the December 31, 2026 sunset. Decommission legacy SDK components, update monitoring, and document the new architecture. Leave time for a controlled rollback so no lender workflow breaks when support formally ends.
MWP's Workflow Before Technology® methodology guides each step, so your migration plan reflects how your team actually originates, processes, and closes loans — not just the underlying code. Contact MWP to scope a transition plan for your Encompass integration portfolio.
